LSVT BIG®
LSVT BIG® is an exercise protocol that teaches how to use bigger movements automatically in daily living for patients with Parkinson’s Disease and other neurological conditions. Often these patients use smaller and slower gestures when performing small and large motor tasks. LSVT BIG teaches them how and when to make bigger motions that are similar to those around them, using their bodies more normally.
Customized to the needs of each individual patient, LSVT BIG helps to improve strength, motor learning, balance, and changes in brain function. This program instructs participants in avoiding inactivity and enhancing everyday movements that can help improve their quality of life.
The LSVT BIG® program is a four-week treatment plan with four sessions per week, each lasting one-hour, conducted with an LSVT BIG® certified physical and/or occupational therapist.
Once patients complete this protocol, their referring physician will determine if booster therapy sessions may be periodically needed to maintain their walking, self-care, and daily living tasks.
