Laurent Delavaux, M.D.
Laurent Delavaux, M.D. is a board certified specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
He received his medical degree from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School (now Rutgers), and completed residency training at the JFK-Johnson Rehabilitation Institute. During his residency he served as an Administrative Chief Resident. He then pursued further subspecialty training in Pain Medicine, completing an ACGME accredited pain medicine fellowship at the JFK-Johnson Rehabilitation Institute.
Dr. Delavaux is a member of multiple professional societies and is highly active in Rehabilitation and Pain academics, at both a regional and national level. He places great emphasis on education and research, and has presented his research at national conferences. He has also been published in several textbooks related to Pain Management and Physical Medicine. He is closely involved with medical student, residency and fellowship education through the JFK-Johnson Rehabilitation Institute training programs.
Dr. Delavaux’s clinical focus includes acute pain and musculoskeletal injuries, as well as chronic degenerative musculoskeletal conditions. He believes in a holistic personalized plan of care that focuses on healthy, active lifestyles and patient empowerment through education. Dr. Delavaux strives to reduce his patients’ pain using varied therapeutic modalities, exercise, and cutting edge interventional procedures – with the overarching goal of improving function and quality of life.
Dr. Delavaux treats a wide range of patients with neck or back pain, facial pain, headaches, cancer related pain, diabetic neuropathy, complex regional pain syndrome, joint pain, sports and overuse injuries or any impairment in function. He has expertise in X-ray (fluoroscopically) guided interventional procedures, which allows him to target sources of pain using real-time dynamic imaging. Additionally, he has procedural expertise in ultrasound-guided joint, bursa, tendon, and soft tissue injections, viscosupplementation, platelet rich plasma, and nerve blocks.
