Dr. Laurie Dabaghian is the Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Consult Services at Hackensack University Medical Center. She is a board certified Physiatrist who completed a Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Residency and a Traumatic Brain Injury Fellowship at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation. She received her medical degrees from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.
During her training, Dr. Dabaghian was involved in research and academics. She received the Joel A. DeLisa Research Award for studying delirium in the acute inpatient rehabilitation setting. She was involved in a study published in the Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery examining the improvement in traumatic brain injury patient functional outcomes associated with the presence of a dedicated physiatrist in the trauma setting. Most recently, she studied the role of ride-share in the health care setting, specifically in the traumatic brain injury population. She is a member of, has held leadership positions at and presented at multiple national and international organizations, including the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, the Association of Academic Physiatrists and the International Brain Injury Association.
As an attending physician, she focuses on caring for patients with traumatic brain injury, primarily in the acute hospital setting to maximize their management at the onset of injury. She also cares for patients after their injury, with a focus on spasticity and concussion management, working to provide patients with the best quality of life post-injury.
