Craig Van Dien, M.D.

Dr. Craig Van Dien is a board certified specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine.

He received his medical degree from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School and completed residency training at JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute, where he served as an Academic Chief Resident and was awarded Resident Teacher of the Year. He completed further subspecialty training in Sports Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Dr. Van Dien’s clinical focus includes sports and musculoskeletal injuries, as well as chronic degenerative musculoskeletal conditions. He believes in well-rounded, personalized plans of care that focus on healthy, active lifestyles and patient empowerment. Dr. Van Dien strives to reduce his patients’ pain using therapeutic modalities, exercise, and interventional procedures.

Dr. Van Dien treats patients with shoulder, elbow, wrist/hand, hip, knee, ankle/foot, neck and back pain and impaired function. He has expertise in diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound, which allows him to identify potential sources of pain using real-time imaging. Additionally, he has procedural expertise in ultrasound-guided joint, bursa, tendon and soft tissue injections, viscosupplementation, platelet rich plasma and nerve blocks.

Dr. Van Dien is a member of multiple professional societies and is highly active in Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine academics, at both a regional and national level. He places great emphasis on education and research, and has presented his research and given talks at national conferences.
